Story: *Tentative Title* Chaos and Order
Blurb- Katrina has a completely average life. She lives in a medium town that's the sub-urb of nowhere in particular, goes to a normal sized public school. And, until one rather normal day in November, she was doomed to a completely ordinary existence.
But when a short cut goes awry, she finds an office building in the middle of a forest: the Chaos Agency, the place in charge of every thing from how ripples react to natural disasters. And now she's caught up the working of the world. But is normal is really so bad after all?
Scene 1:
Setting: A two-way stop intersection, with a loose patch of forest on either side of the road. (An embankment going off one side on the other side of the street)
*School bus driving off and turning, leaving a girl waiting on the curb.*
Katrina(Girl): *Looks up at a grey sky* Hmph, looks like snow. Better hurry.
*She waits at the empty intersection; possibly looks left-right-left and then crosses, Pulls a set of Gloves out from her pocket and sees her name on a tag. Begin internal Monologue*
Katrina: My name is Katrina, I'm 14 and my mom still writes my name in my clothing. Nice.
Kat: My Parents both work during the day and I don't see them at all between 7 and 3 because of school. Thus, I ride the bus. I hate the bus.
*Looks like she's searching along the edge of the road, on the side of the embankment. It begins to snow*
Katrina: Aw Crud. Where the heck is that short cut? *Looks over and sees a stick in the ground, next to a gap in the guard rail.* Ah, right.
*Makes her way over the Gap and tosses her backpack down the embankment*
Katrina: *winces when there's a crunch* So much for the leftovers from lunch, I'll get it at the bottom
*Turns around and begins making her way down*
Kat: It's just like steps, a foothold wherever you need one.
*Puts foot down on a rock that juts out from the slope, but it breaks off and she begins to fall, She makes an exclamation, but catches herself a foot down the slope*
Katrina: *Sighs with relief* That was close.
*She attempts to move once again, but a branch which is caught on her jeans rips a sizable hole in them. She tenses at the sound, squeezing eyes shut*
Katrina: Not the new jeans, not the expensive new jeans... *Looks down at the hole with one eye still shut* s**t. Mom is going to have a cow.
(End Scene 1)
A Chapter may contain anywhere from one to four or five scenes about this long. This is also a first draft, so it's not my best work.
