Alright, I thought I'd make a thread for discussion of the Gods of Melinon plot and Characters. This way, you can ask questions you guys want answered, or make suggestions as appropriate. It will also serve as the main info topic and a Place for dividing up duties.
Current Info:
Chosen Mages
Things to remember: All of the kids have a mark somewhere on their body. It can be any place, as long as it's visible and in a different place for each of them. Design it to look like whatever you think looks cool (although something simple will be easier to draw over and over again). I'll adopt the one I like the best.
Sandra (18, Down-to-earth, cynical, and a pessimist. Nevertheless, she functions as the group's leader because she's the oldest. Either long or short hair would work for her, probably wears long pants.)
Current Possible Designs: Sophie's, Chiyoko's (I really like this one!)
Brianne (14 years old, making her the baby of the group. optimistic , easily distracted, and a bubbly airhead. Slightly annoying, especially according to Sandra).
Current Possible Designs: Golden Kitty's
Michiko (Age 16, Japanese-American. Shyer than her counterparts, artsy, and a bit abstract, but altogether likable. More likely to wear skirts than any of the other girls.)
Current Possible Designs: Rasuel's, Chiyoko's
Caleb (Arrogant 16-year-old boy who incorrectly considers himself a regular casanova, and tends to cause trouble with his various harebrained schemes. His clothes should show his flashy nature. )
Current Possible Designs: Golden Kitty's
Troy (17. Doesn't talk much, but tends to be the voice of reason when he does. Kind of a loner, but not shy, unlike Michiko.)
Current Possible Designs: Golden Kitty's, Troy's
Lance (19, Sneaky, and seems to fight dirty, but passionately believes in what he's fighting for.)
Current Possible Designs:Mangafandom's
Cerilins
Things to remember: The Cerilins are bird people, so there are a few things you need to keep in mind when designing them.
1. They have wings and tails that are rather large in order to carry their own weight.
2. Although the front of the head (Bangs and stuff around face) is covered in hair, toward the back of the head it turns into feathers.
3. The girls(not exactly a problem here, but still important) will have dull or earth-colored feathers, while boys will have more flamboyant feathers.
4. Have fun with it!
Ceryx Dimitri (14, but tries to act older and occasionally succeeds. Heir to the Cerilin royal house. More free-spirited and a bit less rule-abiding than his family would like, but he has a good head on his shoulders, and a better one watching out for him.)
Current Possible Designs: Golden Kitty's (It makes me Squee)
Ce Feliks (Around 28 or so, Ceryx Dimitri's manservant/bodyguard. Reserved and rather logical, he has served the Cerilin royal family since 4 years after hatching)
Current Possible Designs: Rasuel's
Midirans:
Things to remember: Midirans aren't your typical Nekos; they are more like a slightly more human form of a werewolf. They like water, so they have some elements of either dogs or foxes. Well, I'll see where this goes.
Captain Metara (30 tops. Self-proclaimed Queen (AKA Scourge) of the Midiran waterways. Independent and not superstitious in the slightest. Overall a good leader, but can be reckless and impatient.)
Current Possible Designs: Golden Kitty's (Fixed now, with a hat)
Vice Captain (first mate) Audren (a few years older than Metara, though not as charismatic; the vice captain of the The Crimson Sun knows a lot more about the men and tends to act as a bridge between the captain and the crew.)
Current Possible Designs: N/A
Deitons
Things to remember: The Deitons are immortal, and by this time have been around for a few hundred years. Although they don't get wrinkles or anything, try to show whatever ways that you can that they are still older than they look.
Uma (Originally Zoe, one of the Eldest. Demure and gentle, with a love of living things, but the readiness to be strong-willed when she must.)
Current Possible Designs: Golden Kitty's
Yang (Originally Derek, one of the Eldest. A hard-spoken, cunning individual who will do whatever it takes for what he considers the greater good.)
Current Possible Designs: Mine (needs work)

Around the year 2456, a breakthrough in genetics showed a flaw in the human genetic code. A pair of Chromosomes, whose use had been unknown for centuries, had been thoroughly examined by Geneticist Terrence Armstrong. His conclusions were astounding. In all subjects examined the 13th pair of Human chromosomes never exactly paired up. It seemed paradoxical, why would a pair of chromosomes consistently not fit together exactly unlike all the other pairs? A UN funded research team, headed up by Armstrong himself was set the task of uncovering this mystery.
In order to discover the reasoning for nature's strange behavior, the first thing to do is to see what it was avoiding. Genetic engineer, Stella Romero, set to work matching the two genes and was eventually successful. But what happened next would rock the world.
When the genes matched up, they Ate each other. The entire 13th Pair completely disappeared and was compensated for by the other pairs. The DNA had been corrupted in an exchange, and yet the organ tissue on which the first test was performed was still functioning quite correctly. In fact, it continued to function correctly, and kept going, and going and going. The tissue did not eventually slow down, or get old...
... or die.
Dr. Romero and Dr. Armstrong did not at first believe what they had discovered. But the proof was there; the 13th pair was the cause of human aging, and eventually death. Further investigation showed that one of the genes, which became known as the "Lock" gene stimulated the processes that lead to eventual organ failure. But when the "Lock" gene was combined with the correct "Key" gene; both in the pair disintegrated.
Their presentation to the UN changed the world. They had discovered the key to elongating human life indefinitely. Stella and Terrence received the Nobel prize in medicine.
But their heroic reputations were short lived when it is discovered that the only way to turn off the gene in human beings is before birth, by way of genetic engineering. Still, in a hope that it will lead to new medicines or treatments, the research continued. However, when talk began to circulate about the possibility of a human subject made without the 13th row, there was a public outcry. Human rights activists and environmentalists argued that changing a human embryo before birth was unnatural and against the human's rights, since it has no choice in the matter. And the other side, there were doctors, scientists and people whose family had terminal illnesses who argued that this might lead to treatments for otherwise incurable diseases.
Eventually, it was agreed that, as long as the child was taken care of and given a home that the project could go forward. And so, Stella Romero volunteered to be the Mother of the first immortal Human being. The child that was created was named Zoe Romero, a beautiful little girl who was shy and quiet, but loved life and making things grow.
Stella loved her daughter, even if the gene's weren't Entirely her own. And the information gained from her development helped many people with genetic diseases; if not by a cure, by innovative treatments.
Then, a second child was made three years later, They named him Derek. And as soon as he was old enough to talk, he and Zoe were inseparable.
Derek was more clever than Zoe, and tended to grasp abstract concepts better, but he was also lacking in her glow of warmth. They played together and treated each other as siblings do, they grew and changed, and, if anything, became closer. When they were old enough to understand their birth, they decided to give each other secret names that only they would be allowed to use. Zoe became Uma, and Derek took the name Yang. ((AN: Um and Yang are the Korean versions of Yin and Yang, the male and female energies of the universe))
The two Keyless children grew and learned, and even benefited the world. But, 18 years after Zoe's birth, there were startling signs that confirmed in the minds of many that Uma and Yang were never meant to be...
Later....
Okay, there are these kids (teenagers to be exact) that wake up one morning lost in the strange world of Melinon. There, they find themselves marked with a strange symbol that won't come off. They landed in groups on the planet (One 3-person and one 2) and are rescued by The Prince of the bird-like Cerilins and a group of Midiran (cat or beast people) Pirates. They eventually are taken to a place called Deiton Tower by these strange inhabitants of the world.
Upon their arrival they discover that the strange inhabitants of Deiton Tower are the Gods of Melinon, who watch and care for the world. And that they are powerful mages who have been chosen to defeat and destroy the demon-like UACS. With the weight of their new mission heavy on their shoulders, the chosen begin training.
On their first mission into enemy territory, they find themselves face-to-face with a new, deadly opponent: the Final Chosen one! The Deitons then send them to save him from the UACS before he is killed or worse (They end up having to kidnap him in order to get him to go along with it). After they detain him and take him back to Deiton Tower, they find out that the UACS weren't trying to kill him at all, but that he was working for them. He escapes, taking one of the other chosen mages (Sandra) with him as bait--to get the "Chosen mages" outside the city where he can talk more freely.
They discover from him that the "Gods" are nothing of the sort, and neither are the UACS "Demons" but rather the last survivors of the Human race.
Melinon isn't another world, but the Earth of the future!
